Keratinocytes- Most numerous of the epidermal cells. 90-95%. Rich in keratin protein which protect and waterproofs the skin.
Melanocytes- 5-8% of epidermal cells. This creates the protein pigment melanin. Responsible in variation in skin color and absorbs UV light.
Langerhans- Immune cells in epidermis.
Merkel- Nerve receptors and monitor touch.
